Visits in Oradea
The city of Oradea is one of the most beautiful cities in the country. The turbulent past and the mix of nationalities give it a special beauty, with valuable architectural edifices. The Orthodox Cathedral of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary "Church with the Moon" stands out, in addition to the combination of Byzantine and late Baroque architectural styles, through the mechanism of the clock, which indicates the phases of the moon, being entirely mechanical. The town hall, with its tower, in addition to its practical administrative role, is also a point of tourist attraction. Different exhibits find their place in the corridors, in the pyramid or in the tower. The Regina Maria Theater, a restaurant in 2011, stages various plays for culture lovers. The Black Eagle Passage, a copy of the famous Galleria Vittorio Emanuele in Milan, awaits you with the busiest area in the city. Together with Strada Vasile Alecsandri, it hosts the most famous terraces, bars and pubs in the city. Oradea Citadel, built in the 11th century, is one of the last inhabited citadels in Europe. Under extensive restoration, it continues to amaze with the size of the exterior walls and the beauty of the interior.
Excursions in Bihor county
The Apuseni Mountains, due to the predominance of limestone in the structure, gave rise to numerous caves. The most famous of them is the Urșilor Cave, a karst formation discovered in 1975, during dynamiting. Stretching over a length of over 1500 m, arranged on two levels, the Cave of the Bears houses fossils of the cave bear, a species considered extinct over 650,000 years ago. The resort of Stâna de Vale, the center of precipitation in Romania, is also easily accessible. Due to the tonic bioclimate, characterized by low atmospheric pressure, it is especially recommended in the treatment of respiratory ailments. The Padiș Plateau is the ideal starting point for those who want to do mountain hiking. Easily accessible and with a low degree of difficulty are trails that lead to the Citadels of Ponorului, the Lost World, the Living Fire Glacier or to many other natural objectives of particular beauty.
